We collected the organic vegetable for our lunch
Last Friday, it was such an incredible experience! Wow! It was so excited that had to share you now! I couldn’t wait any minutes!

Although living in Ho Chi Minh City for over 3 years, I didn’t know that there was a place that I could experience so many great things like that! I haven’t know it before! Incidentally, I found that place in once time on a business trip with my colleagues – a cooking class! Maybe the cooking class is not new at all but the experiences, this place are new to me!

Located in Cu Chi District, outside of the city center, Ho Chi Minh Cooking Class was organized by Westen Asian Travel Service Company, founded in 2012. The HCM Cooking Class is a unique and healthy cooking class. Not only will we teach you how to cook, but you will learn how to use food as medicine and discover Vietnamese food culture. Vietnamese food is one of the healthiest cuisines in the world. Luckily, I’m so happy to have Mr. Luong Viet Tan – The founder, Director & Head chef of the company – as my companion at the cooking class.

Firstly, I was so impressive! I discovered not only the scenic wonder of this area, with its magnificent fields, its green farm, I found not only the wonderful spirit of a trip, but I found experiences in this place.

First of all, we wore a conical hat, went to the garden to pick all the vegetables for the meal. Wow. How surprising! The vegetables are green and fresh in the sunlight. Mr. Tan explained and guided us very carefully. Are all the green plants here grass? Absolutely not! You're making a mistake! They are all Vietnamese herbs! Very amazing, right? Although Vietnamese people, I still quite surprised to know the transcendental benefits of the very familiar vegetables that I eat every day.

Look at it! This was an herb not a kind of grass! It is coriander! All parts of the plant are edible, but the fresh leaves and the dried seeds are the parts most traditionally used in cooking. The plant is fragrant, often grown as herbs and spices. In many countries in the Mediterranean, some Central Asian countries, India, and China, it is grown on a large scale for fruit and medicines in the perfume industry. The fresh leaves are an ingredient in many South Asian foods (such as chutneys and salads); in Chinese, Thai, and Burmese dishes. In Vietnam, chopped coriander is a garnish on Vietnamese dishes. In addition, both roots and leaves are used as medicine. According to folk, the coriander is suitable for the digestive stimulation and help the mother have more breast milk…

There were so many different kinds of herbs here such as: basil, bitter melon, scallion, garlic chives… I have learned many things about the Vietnamese herb. After a while, we have already collected all the ingredients for our cooking class.

Do you believe that this little plant has such miraculous effect? Believe me! You will! Collecting all the vegetables, we moved to another small place – Mushroom House. From a distance, I saw a small hut with long white wires hanging just in front of the entrance. That is the place where they grow oyster mushrooms. Mr. Tan showed us different mushrooms as well as how to grow mushrooms.

These are tiny oyster mushrooms. They look so cute, right? And it's good for health! From now on I will add mushrooms to my daily menu. Oh! And you should do it too!

Coming here, you are not only a tourist, but a farmer and also a chef. Going to the most important part – the cooking time that I love the most. Mr. Tan and his team already prepared all the tool and the ingredients needed for us. I learned how to make a simple Vietnamese spring roll!

With the once who has the infinite passion in cooking, I advise you come here! Mr. Tan has shown us many things about Vietnamese cuisine about the balance in every dish: salty, sweet, sour, spicy… I was so happy because I knew how to make a sauce for the spring roll! So great! This is my art of food!

After finish the dish, you can taste yours.

There are others delicious dishes: Fried banana with coconut ice-cream and Fried noodles with oyster mushroom

The time in the Agricultural Village is a great escape to the hustle and bustle of busy HCM City. There aren’t the sound of the bike and the car anymore. All left is just the peaceful sounds of cows, birds, ducks, frogs and other inhabitants of our organic farmland… This is my best time in farm until now. There are more but I just have 1 day! So sad! I’m sure that I will come back again and enjoy more? Will you want to joint with me?
